I idly scratched the side of my neck, knowing that my scales were slowly emerging. Soon, my hormones would have my full mating display on show. Would he recoil from them as strange? I hoped not, as once the change was complete, we had to complete the physical part of our mating, lest I go into a full on rut. The resulting fever would see the scales progress even further until our inner beast was revealed, something which usually only otherwise happened when in full battle mode.
A feeling of shame washed over me. How could I even think about bedding this beautiful male while he was still recovering from exhaustion? I needed to do better than this. He came first, he and Haru. If he required more time to recover and adjust, then he would have it. Iâd just have to go see the medics and see if they could give me something to slow the process down in me.
âI still canât believe Aunt Linda stooped so low!â my mate said, looking up from the book he was reading on my datapad. âDo you think Uncle Hitoshi was in on it? He has to know, right? Seeing as her end game was to get them to let her have Haru. Do you think they were hoping for a check from the government for him or something?â
I shrugged. âIt is an unusually cruel thing to do by Mylos standards,â I told him. âDo you believe they are that desperate for funds?â
âI wouldnât have thought so,â he replied. âMaybe they fell into debt.â He shifted about, making himself more comfortable. âAh, well, weâre here now and she canât touch him.â He gave me a satisfied grin, âand heâs out right now having made a friend already!â
I answered his smile with one of my own. âHe will no doubt return from his classes tomorrow having made friends with all of his age mates,â I declared. âHe is a wonderful young male.â
âI hope so,â he replied, going back to his book. âI want him, I mean us, to be happy here. Iâd hate to find out he wasnât.â
That reminded me of the promise Iâd made him earlier. Remembering that he didnât wish for my mate to recall the soon to be missed birthday, I excused myself to use the toilet. I felt like a young who was making a pretense to evade scrutiny of his parents, a notion that made me chuckle.
âXeranos, patch me through to the Chief.â
The call went through and once I explained the situation, Chief was onboard with my idea and assured me that Command would be fine with it. I simply had to arrange things on my end. I ended the call a very happy male. Now, all I had to do was get the human youngâs contact information and speak with his parents. I was certain that Haru could give that once he returned. I actually did need to empty my bladder, so I did, adding truth to my excuse for my getaway.
